The rules we live by

How the rules work

• Specific rules were put in place at the inception of the Good Hope Family Camper group to ensure consistency and order. Over time the rules have been modified based on Forestry Service requirements and group feedback and agreement.
• By being a part of the group, campers of all ages agree to follow the included rules.
• Infractions of rules will be handled by the coordinator with the adult / family / parents involved.

General

• Campers will assemble in front of the Mess Hall entrance before each scheduled activity and each meal. Being on time is encouraged.
• Campers are expected to wear their nametags during meals and activities.
• Campers must attend the activity to which they are assigned. If missing an activity it is expected the camper is in their cabin. Adults assigned to an activity must arrange for a substitute if missing.
• Children are not allowed in the kitchen except teens when assigned.
• Children under 21 are not allowed in the cooler. (The 21-year-old drinking rule will apply.)
• Cans (soda or other) are not allowed outside of the mess hall except: by parents taking them to cabins for preteens after cabin time; the rec hall for teens and adults for night activities; or by exception of the coordinator.
• Minor children should always have one parent at camp. If parents need to leave, a responsible adult should be identified and communicated to the coordinators.

Team activities

• For team activities, teams are broken down based on age.
• Teens that have graduated high school have the option to be assigned on a team or to be assigned as an adult with tasks.
• Teams 1 & 2 — 13 (or going into 8th grade) and older.
• Teams 3 & 4 — 8 and older.
• Team 7 — 7 and under.

Cabin time

Cabin time rules should be enforced by parents and coordinators.

• 11:00 — Junior teens — 13 yrs or going into 8th grade.
• 12:00 — Senior teens — 15 yrs or going into 10th grade.
• 18 & older must be in the Dining Hall after midnight.

Cabin assignments

• New campers are always assigned to the last cabin (#12) unless the present campers wish to stay there.
• Cabins are always assigned based on seniority and a family can always choose to stay in their cabin and not move up.
• Coordinators always have the choice of a beach cabin. The newest occupant on the beach would be moved if the coordinator wants a beach cabin.

Prayer service and Mass

• Please be respectful of the prayer service and stay in your cabin if you are not going to attend. Assigned adults may be in the kitchen or dining room. This is not the time to roam camp or take a shower. Outside activity can be distracting to those attending Mass or prayer service.
• For Mass, readings are the preassigned daily readings. Campers may be asked to provide songs, petitions and readers. This will be coordinated by the liturgy planning committee.
• There is generally a theme for prayer services for the week. The liturgy planning committee will provide campers with the needed summary of the topic for the week.
• Families assigned to liturgy / prayer service are also in charge of flag raising on that morning.
• Camp coordinator and assistant coordinator are responsible for the final prayer service on Saturday.

Grounds

• All campers are responsible for keeping camp clean. It is the group's desire to leave camp cleaner than we found it.
• All campers should pick up their beach items and lawn chairs prior to leaving the beach after swim time.
• Food and drink, specifically cans (soda or other) are not allowed outside of the mess hall (or cabin).
• Cars must be parked and stay at the entrance parking area. Exceptions cannot be made for loading or unloading.
• Drugs, guns (other than rifles used at the rifle range) or fireworks are not allowed.
• Only beer and wine may be kept in the cooler and fridges in the Mess Hall; other alcohol should be kept in individual cabins.

Waiting list and open cabins

• The waiting list for open cabins will be maintained by the coordinators. They will have the responsibility for calling a family off the top of the list.
• Former campers, who have been gone for one year only, will have priority over the waiting list when a cabin is available. Guests who share a cabin will be considered like former campers. If they want to continue to come to camp, their name will be put on the top of the waiting list. When a cabin is available, it will be given based on seniority.
• A nonrefundable deposit of $20 is required to be added to the waiting list.
